SATH Soccer Tournament Earns Industry Praise for Business Engagement Through Sport

Football Meets Corporate Culture

The SATH Soccer Tournament returned for its second edition today, once again reinforcing its place as one of Nigeria’s emerging industry-wide events. It promotes wellness, workplace culture, and cross-sector engagement.

Organized by Signal Alliance Technology Holding (SATH), the tournament successfully brought together professionals from a diverse range of organizations. It was a day of competitive football in a format specifically designed to encourage connection beyond office walls.

This year’s tournament, held at Pistis Turf Football Field, Lekki, featured teams from notable companies including:
UBA Africa, Samsung Nigeria, KPMG, PwC, TD Africa, Arravo, SeamlessHR, Vesicash, Curacel, Pal Pensions, Manifold Computers, SA Consulting, CloudSA Africa, Medismarts Limited, Codeware, Dochase, and 3rd Retail Africa.

Right from the kickoff, energy ran high. Moreover, all competing teams participated in a 5-a-side knockout format that emphasized teamwork, agility, speed, and collaboration. The event began with a coordinated team procession, aerobics, and a spirited performance by the SATH Cheerleading team. Together, these set the tone for a full day of competition and camaraderie.

More Than a Tournament , It’s a Movement

According to Abayomi Adebanjo, Chief Human Resources Officer at SATH, “The SATH Soccer Tournament is built on the belief that people-first experiences are essential to workplace culture. This isn’t just about winning. It’s about building community, trust, and momentum.”

Similarly, Fridel Makun, Head of Marketing at TD Africa, said, “Initiatives like the SATH Soccer Tournament demonstrate how sport can reinforce a culture of inclusion, wellness, and connection within and across companies. It’s refreshing to engage with peers outside of a formal setting.”

Meanwhile, Flour Mills of Nigeria was also present at the tournament. They engaged attendees through product sampling and served refreshments to players and guests. Notably, their activation aligns with the tournament’s wellness focus and further contributed to the vibrant atmosphere across the venue.

The tournament will conclude with a trophy presentation for Best Team, Best Goalkeeper, Highest Goal Scorer, and Most Valuable Player. Collectively, these honors celebrate performance, collaboration, and reinforce team spirit.

Interestingly, with participation expanding and engagement deepening, the SATH Soccer Tournament is earning a fast reputation as a cross-industry platform where sports, people engagement, and strategic business goals intersect.

KEY PURPOSE OF JOB

 

The Head of SATH Foundation will oversee and manage the foundation’s programs and activities. This role is pivotal in designing, implementing, and evaluating the foundation’s initiatives to ensure they align with the organization’s mission and goals.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Program Development: The Head, SATH Foundation is responsible for developing and shaping the foundation’s programs and activities. This involves identifying areas of focus, setting goals, and designing initiatives that align with the foundation’s mission and objectives.

 

  • Strategic Planning: The Head, SATH Foundation works on long-term planning, ensuring that the foundation’s programs align with its overall mission and goals. Assess community needs, identify opportunities for impact, and develop strategies to address pressing issues.

 

  • Grantmaking: Oversees the grantmaking process, including reviewing proposals, making funding recommendations, and monitoring the progress of grantees. Ensures that grants are awarded to projects that align with the foundation’s priorities.

 

  • Partnerships and Collaborations: Cultivates relationships with other organizations, nonprofits, and stakeholders to build partnerships and collaborations. This can enhance the foundation’s impact by leveraging resources and expertise.

 

  • Evaluation and Impact Assessment: The Head, SATH Foundation, alongside other personnel is responsible for assessing the effectiveness of the foundation’s programs. This involves monitoring outcomes, collecting data, and evaluating the impact of funded projects to ensure that they contribute to the foundation’s goals.

 

  • Communication and Advocacy: Engages in communication and advocacy efforts to raise awareness about the foundation’s programs and the issues they address. This can involve collaborating with the media, policymakers, and the public to amplify the foundation’s impact.

  • Understand social advocacy, grant writing, fundraising and is able to use this knowledge to access opportunities for the organization.

His financial acumen spans key areas including general ledger administration, revenue management & reporting, receivables & payables management, financial planning, treasury management, tax management, audit, asset management & reporting, internal control & compliance, inventory management, finance operations & customer service.

Lanre Onasanya, is the incumbent Chairman of Cloudsa – Africa a subsidiary of Signal Alliance Technology Holding. He is a Management Consultant and was pioneer in setting up Microsoft in Nigeria. He is a Chartered Accountant, and he has an MBA in Marketing and Bachelors from the University of Lagos. Lanre is passionate about the African dream. Collins is a thought leader with over thirty years of experience in the African technology and business landscape.  

He is the Founder and Chairman of Signal Alliance Technology Holding, an African technology holding company with subsidiaries and portfolio companies in Cloud, Tech consulting, early-stage tech ventures, Fintech, and software development. He founded Signal Alliance in 1996 and has grown the company to an Enterprise Technology powerhouse building software, applications and integrating infrastructure systems for large scale African enterprises. 

With a background in Engineering, he is an alumnus of the University of Nigeria Nsukka, the Harvard Business School, Said Business School, and the Lagos Business School.

Throughout her career, Adanma has held various key positions within Signal Alliance Technology Holding, including COO, CEO, and Executive Consultant. He is the Founder and Chairman of Signal Alliance Technology Holding, an African technology holding company with subsidiaries and portfolio companies in Cloud, Tech consulting, early-stage tech ventures, Fintech, and software development. He founded Signal Alliance in 1996 and has grown the company to an Enterprise Technology powerhouse building software, applications and integrating infrastructure systems for large scale African enterprises. 

 

With a background in Engineering, he is an alumnus of the University of Nigeria Nsukka, the Harvard Business School, Said Business School, and the Lagos Business School.
